South Africa has summoned the new US ambassador Brent Bozell to explain undiplomatic remarks about South African racial policies and court decisions.
In his first public address on Tuesday, Bozell labelled a controversial apartheid-era slogan “Kill the Boer, kill the farmer” as “hate speech” and criticised policies meant to empower black South Africans.
His comment disregards a court ruling that the slogan does not constitute hate speech and should be considered in the context of the liberation struggle against the brutal system of white-minority rule.
Although he retracted his statement yesterday, descending from them as his personal opinion , Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola told journalists that the ambassador has been summoned.
