Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Thursday ended his 2025 annual leave earlier than scheduled in order to attend the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, taking place today (Friday).
The governor’s early resumption was confirmed by the state House of Assembly, which approved his notice of return during Thursday’s plenary presided over by Deputy Speaker, Abiodun Fadeyi.
In his letter to the lawmakers, Makinde explained that the decision was necessitated by the historic and culturally significant nature of the Olubadan’s coronation.
“I shall resume duty today, September 26, 2025, and hereby assume the full functions of the Office of Governor of Oyo State,” the letter read.
Makinde had earlier notified the House of his plan to proceed on annual leave from August 29 to September 29, 2025.
