For the first time in three years, Nigeria’s inflation rate fell to 18.02 percent in September 2025, down from 20.12 percent recorded in August, 2025.

The National Bureau of Statistics disclosed this in its latest Consumer Price Index report, noting that the headline inflation eased by 2.1 percentage points month-on-month.

On a year-on-year basis, inflation dropped by 14.68 percentage points from 32.7 percent in September 2024.

Food inflation also dipped to 16.87 percent in September from 21.87 percent in August, driven by lower prices of maize, garri, beans, millet, potatoes, onions, eggs, tomatoes, and fresh pepper.

Ekiti, Rivers, and Nasarawa recorded the highest food inflation, while Bauchi, Niger, and Anambra saw the slowest increases.
