A Lagos real estate developer, Olakanmi Ogundele, has raised concerns after a driver he hired barely four days earlier allegedly vanished with his Gelly saloon car, registered AGL 586 GW.
Ogundele told PUNCH Metro that the driver, who initially introduced himself as “Adeleye” but later turned out to be Olufemi Jogbodo, was deployed to him by his company’s manager on November 18 to temporarily replace his regular driver, who had fallen ill.
According to him, the new driver accompanied him on a work trip to Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, on the same day he was hired and returned with him to Lagos on November 20.
The following day, Jogbodo reportedly drove Ogundele to his office in Ikoyi — and that was the last time he was seen.
“While I was in a meeting, he told the security personnel that I had sent him on an errand,” Ogundele said. “The guards couldn’t interrupt my meeting to verify, so they let him go. He drove out with the car and never returned.”
Ogundele said the incident was promptly reported to the tactical team at the Ikoyi Police Division, who began tracking the suspect. However, he lamented that efforts to locate Jogbodo or recover the vehicle have yielded no meaningful leads so far.
