There is palpable tension within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North-West Local Government Area as party members have rejected the continued stay in office of the acting chairman, Mr. Olusola Tokunbo Adekanbi, and his team.

At an emergency meeting held on Thursday at Ebenezer African Church Primary School, Omitowoju, hundreds of party members unanimously demanded that Adekanbi step aside immediately to allow the duly elected chairman, Jelili Asukuna, and his executives assume their positions.

Moving the motion, party chieftain Adekunle Akande said the decision became necessary to address lingering issues weakening the party at the local level. He argued that the prolonged tenure of the acting chairman was obstructing progress and deepening internal grievances.

According to him, “We are here to find solutions to the problems affecting us. We will not allow this to continue. We want the authentic executives to occupy their rightful positions because those ruling us now are not the recognised leaders.”

Party members at the meeting echoed his position, insisting that restoring the elected executives was the only way to stabilise the local chapter and strengthen unity ahead of future political engagements.
