The Kaduna State Government has issued a seven-day ultimatum to former Governor Nasir El-Rufai to back up his allegation that Governor Uba Sani’s administration paid N1 billion to bandits or publicly retract it.
Describing the claim as “false and politically motivated,” the government warned that failure to provide concrete evidence would leave it with no option but to pursue legal action against the former governor.
In a strongly worded statement on Sunday, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Sule Shu’aibu (SAN), faulted El-Rufai for what he called a “reckless, baseless and deliberately misleading” assertion.
He accused the former governor of “weaponising a sensitive security issue for political grandstanding,” stressing that such behaviour was unbecoming of someone who once held the state’s highest office.
The government maintained that Governor Uba Sani has never directly or indirectly approved, negotiated, or released funds to any criminal group. “Not one naira. Not one kobo,” Shu’aibu emphasised.
