The Kwara State Government has confirmed the release of all 38 worshippers abducted by bandits from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq announced their freedom in a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye. The statement, however, did not reveal the circumstances under which the abductees regained their freedom.
“After many days of hard work by security forces and government representatives, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is excited to announce the freedom of 38 persons who were recently abducted in an attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Eruku, Ekiti LGA, Kwara State,” it said.
The government credited the successful rescue to what it described as the “hands-on approach” of President Bola Tinubu, noting that the President “personally led the efforts” to ensure the safe return of the victims.
“The governor is immensely grateful to President Bola Tinubu for his direct initiative that made this happen,” the statement added.
The release of the abducted worshippers brings an end to days of anxiety in the state, though questions remain about the operation that secured their freedom.
