Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday reaffirmed that his administration remains committed to fair, humane and inclusive development, announcing that he will begin direct engagements with residents affected by the 110km Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road Project from Wednesday.

Makinde made the pledge while presenting the 2026 budget proposal to the House of Assembly at the House of Chiefs Secretariat, Ibadan.

In recent months, affected residents have staged several protests across Ibadan and neighbouring communities, alleging displacement concerns and creating temporary disruptions to the ongoing project.

The governor, addressing the concerns head-on, said that a people-centred government must listen, engage and act responsibly. He assured that he would personally visit the project site, meet the residents, and consider all viable options including adequate compensation and possible resettlement.

Makinde added that his administration will not pursue development at the expense of the people, stressing that every decision must balance infrastructure expansion with human dignity.
