The Fusengbuwa ruling house of Ijebu-Ode has directed popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, also known as KWAM 1, to submit a detailed royal lineage data form to establish his eligibility to contest for the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland.
The family made the announcement following a letter from the musician, dated December 3, 2025, in which he declared his interest in the throne and described himself as a “bonafide son” of the ruling house.
The letter went viral on social media on Friday, sparking widespread public interest and debate.
In response, the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Abdulateef Owoyemi, a former President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, stated on Saturday that only bonafide members of the family will be allowed to participate in the selection process.
Owoyemi explained that Ayinde and any other contender must complete a royal lineage data form, which requires tracing one’s genealogy back seven generations. This step is aimed at confirming genuine ancestral ties to the ruling house and preventing “strangers” from entering the succession race.
The Fuji musician’s declaration comes as the Fusengbuwa house prepares to nominate a successor following the transition of the late Awujale, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
