The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has called on the Yoruba people to remain highly vigilant as violent attacks spread across the country, warning that recent bandit and terrorist incursions in northern and central states could threaten the South-West.

The monarch issued the caution in Ode-Omu, Osun State, over the weekend during the annual Ode-Omu Day celebration, according to a statement released by his media aide, Adeola Oloko, on Sunday.

Oba Ladoja’s remarks follows a surge of deadly attacks and mass kidnappings in several northern states and growing concern in Kwara and Kogi, which border the South-West. The situation has prompted governors of the South-West region to convene an emergency security summit.

“Let me use this occasion to urge Yoruba people to be vigilant amid security challenges facing Nigeria,” the Olubadan stated.

While commending the people of Ode-Omu under the leadership of the Alaye of Ode-Omu, Oba Bolarinwa Oladipupo, for their community development efforts, Ladoja emphasized that regional solidarity and alertness were essential in the face of national instability.
