The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has held a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo as part of plans to woo him back to the party.
The delegation was led by the party’s factional National Chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Turaki, SAN, who was accompanied by key figures including the Board of Trustees Chairman and former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara; National Secretary and former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Taofeek Arapaja; former governors Babangida Aliyu (Niger) and Jonah Jang (Plateau); and the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming election, Dr. Wole Oluyede.
The meeting, held at Obasanjo’s penthouse residence within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, lasted approximately 40 minutes.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, revealed that the former president charged the leadership to uphold strict internal discipline as the cornerstone of effective party administration.
“It was a consultative meeting where we examined the state of the nation, the state of democracy, and the state of affairs,” Ememobong stated. “We had very fruitful discussions, and he tasked us to carry on and soldier on, but we should keep discipline as the core of our party administration.”
