A professor of transport planning at Lagos State University, Samuel Gbadebo Odewumi, has been appointed Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Uyo.
The appointment was confirmed in a letter dated December 15, 2025, signed by the University’s registrar, Blossom Okorie.
It said the decision followed approval by President Bola Tinubu, acting as Visitor to the university, through the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa.
Professor Odewumi’s appointment takes immediate effect and will remain in place pending the selection of a substantive vice-chancellor.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, congratulated him, describing the appointment as recognition of his academic record and administrative experience.
She said his background and expertise would support stability and progress at the University of Uyo.
