The Ekiti State Football Referees’ Council has officially commended and endorsed the sports development efforts of Professor Akin Oyebode following a facility tour of the newly completed Ikolè-Ekiti stadium. Council Chairman, Mr. Onilearo Kayode, led the delegation and hailed the project as a transformative investment in the state’s sporting future.
During the visit, Kayode described the stadium as a “major milestone” that will significantly enhance grassroots football development, foster greater youth engagement, and provide a modern, conducive environment for talent discovery.
He also credited Professor Oyebode’s consistent dedication to community advancement for making the project a reality, stating that the facility stands as a testament to his commitment to elevating sporting standards in Ekiti.
In a formal show of support, the Council announced its full backing for the ongoing Prof. Akin Oyebode Cup 2025. The council endorsed the tournament as a strategic and positive initiative that will further strengthen football structures and competition within the state.
The Council reaffirmed its institutional commitment to collaborating on and promoting all initiatives aimed at fostering sports development and enhancing professionalism across Ekiti’s football landscape.
