Jake Paul has undergone surgery to repair a double jaw fracture sustained during his sixth-round knockout loss to Anthony Joshua in Miami.
The 28-year-old social media star turned boxer revealed on Instagram that surgeons inserted two titanium plates and removed several teeth following the bout.
Paul, who was stopped after hitting the canvas multiple times in the fifth and sixth rounds, had suspected the injury immediately after the fight. “Surgery went well thanks for all the love and support,” he wrote, alongside an X-ray image clearly showing two breaks along his jawline. He added that he will be on a liquid-only diet for the next seven days.
Despite the significant injury, which caused him to miss the post-fight press conference, Paul maintained his trademark bravado online, humorously suggesting he could face former super-middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Álvarez “in 10 days.”
Most Valuable Promotions chief Nakisa Bidarian downplayed the severity of the injury in boxing terms, stating, “A broken jaw is very common in sports, particularly in boxing or MMA. The recovery time is four to six weeks.”
Medical professionals expect Paul to make a full recovery within the typical recovery window, though the injury underscores the steep physical cost of his venture into elite-level boxing.
