American forces have conducted a “powerful and deadly” strikes against Islamic State (ISIS) militants in northwest Nigeria, with a vow to continue if there are attacks on Christians continue.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, president Donald Trump stated that the operation was carried out under his direction as Commander in Chief, targeting terrorists he accused of killing Christians “at levels not seen for many years, and even centuries.”
“Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians,” Trump wrote.
He added, “I have previously warned these terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was.”
The statement described the strikes as executed by the “Department of War” an apparent reference to the U.S. Department of Defense and referred to them as “numerous perfect strikes.”
