The Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has called on security agencies to interrogate Florence Ajimobi, wife of a former governor, over comments she made describing the 2027 general elections as an impending “war.”
In a viral video circulating on Friday, Ajimobi, recently appointed as an ambassador by President Bola Tinubu, was seen addressing supporters, asserting that the All Progressives Congress would engage in a “head-on war” to dislodge the PDP from the state.
“We are going to war in 2027. It is going to be war. Head-on war. PDP must go,” she stated, adding that the APC possessed federal backing and resources to confront the state’s ruling party. “Whatever they have at the state, we have at the federal level… We are not going to be intimidated. Let them get ready for us. We are ready for them.”
The PDP, in a reaction on Saturday, condemned the remarks as inflammatory and capable of escalating political tension and undermining public order. The party urged security agencies to invite Ajimobi for questioning to prevent the incitement of violence ahead of the polls.
