The minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo says the government is prioritizing the need for modern fire services to evolve beyond traditional firefighting into emergency response, management, and rescue services.
He said this during an on-site inspection of the ongoing remodeling and upgrading works at the National Fire Academy, Sheda, Abuja.
According to him, the visit underscores the commitment of President Bola Tinubu to the transformation of Nigeria’s fire and emergency service into a world-class institution.
The minister stated that the initiative, when completed, will position the academy as a major hub for capacity building and professional training.
Tunji-Ojo further revealed that the facility will train not only Federal Fire Service officers but also private sector personnel, while also creating employment.
