In a surprising development in the AMAC PDP chairmanship race, Zadna Dantani has officially stepped down from the contest to support the APC candidate, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu.
Dantani revealed that his decision came after intervention by former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and was made in the interest of unity, as well as to bolster support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Confirming his withdrawal with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Dantani urged his supporters across AMAC to rally behind the APC candidate.
The decision followed a visit by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to Dantani’s Gwarinpa residence, during which he called on residents and supporters to come out en masse to vote. Atiku emphasized that voters must remain vigilant after casting their ballots to ensure that votes are protected until official results are announced.
This development marks a significant realignment in the AMAC local political landscape and could influence the outcome of the chairmanship election.
