The General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA), Ifalade Oyekan, says the existing security framework in Lagos is capable of supporting the transition to state policing.
Speaking with journalists, Oyekan said the agency is strategically structured to evolve into a state security apparatus once the legal framework for state police is enacted.
According to him, the LNSA has undergone significant restructuring and re-engineering in recent years to meet modern safety and security demands.
Oyekan further explained that the agency’s operations remain focused on community-based intelligence gathering and rapid response to security concerns.
The LNSA boss, who was recently reappointed for a second five-year term by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting the government’s vision of a safer and more secure Lagos.
He added that under the leadership of Governor Sanwo-Olu, the agency and its corps arm will continue to evolve into a modern, efficient and responsive safety institution capable of supporting the proposed state police structure when it becomes operational.
