Members of the reconciliation committee drawn from the camps of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are expected to meet on Monday as part of efforts to resolve the lingering leadership crisis within the party.
A senior PDP leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to comment publicly on the matter, disclosed that the meeting would focus on harmonising conditions that could pave the way for reconciliation among the feuding factions.
The source said the joint panel would deliberate on key issues dividing the party and work towards a unified framework for peace.
Members of the governors’ camp, alongside the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee and the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, also confirmed that the reconciliation panel would meet to address the internal dispute.
On the other hand, the National Secretary of the caretaker committee backed by Wike, Samuel Anyanwu, expressed optimism that the crisis rocking the party would soon be resolved.
Speaking in an interview, Anyanwu said the party remained capable of overcoming its internal challenges through dialogue and compromise among its leaders.
The ongoing reconciliation efforts come amid growing concerns among party members that the prolonged leadership dispute could weaken the PDP ahead of future political contests.
