The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has raised alarm over the activities of unscrupulous individuals issuing fake vehicle documents, including Roadworthiness Certificates and other vehicle particulars, to unsuspecting motorists across the state.
In a statement, commissioner for transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi strongly condemned the fraudulent practice, stressing that vehicle documentation remains a statutory responsibility carried out solely by duly authorized agencies.
It warned that any document obtained outside official channels is invalid and constitutes a serious offence.
Motorists were advised to avoid patronizing unauthorized individuals or groups for vehicle documentation, as such actions not only endanger public safety but also expose them to legal consequences.
The Ministry assured the public that, in collaboration with security agencies, enforcement operations have been intensified to track down and apprehend those involved in the illegal activity. It added that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
Residents were also encouraged to verify the authenticity of service providers before engaging them and to report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities or via designated hotlines.
