Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has been granted temporary bail by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.
The decision, confirmed on Friday, is to allow the former governor participate in the funeral rites of his late mother, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt, after a brief illness.
El-Rufai’s son, Bashir El-Rufai, disclosed the development in a post on X, expressing relief over his father’s release while criticising the circumstances surrounding his detention.
The temporary bail is expected to cover the period required for burial arrangements, after which further legal proceedings may continue.
