The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, has congratulated Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his 74th birthday, describing him as a transformative figure whose political legacy continues to shape Nigeria’s development.
In a message conveyed through his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, the monarch portrayed Tinubu as a defining force in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic, noting that his journey reflects resilience, vision, and enduring relevance in a constantly evolving political landscape.
The Alaafin remarked that while the President may not be universally admired, his political trajectory remains remarkable and worthy of study. He noted that in a democratic system where many leaders fade after a single term, Tinubu has sustained influence for over two decades, a testament, he said, to strategic leadership and structural depth.
“His endurance is no accident,” the monarch stated, adding that it underscores how vision, organisation, and loyalty can help a leader weather political storms and remain relevant across generations.
He further described Tinubu’s career as more than a political story, but a case study in building lasting networks and institutional strength, highlighting his consistency in a political environment where many prominent figures have risen and fallen.
The Alaafin also pointed to Tinubu’s track record as a former governor of Lagos State and senator, as well as his current role as President, commending ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening economic stability and advancing infrastructure development across the country.
