The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party shows no sign of abating, as fresh resignations by key figures continue to trail the party’s disputed national convention held over the weekend.

Although the convention has been acknowledged by the Independent National Electoral Commission, its legitimacy is now being contested in court by rival factions within the party.

The convention, reportedly backed by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, is facing a legal challenge from a competing bloc aligned with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed.

What began as internal party disagreements has now escalated into a broader constitutional dispute, raising questions about leadership legitimacy and the extent of judicial involvement in political party affairs.

In a statement issued by Ini Ememobong, National Publicity Secretary of the factional National Working Committee loyal to Makinde, the group confirmed it had initiated legal proceedings, including filings at the Supreme Court, to resolve the leadership tussle and determine the validity of the convention.
