A heavy security presence, including an armoured personnel carrier, has been deployed at Zambezi Crescent in Maitama, Abuja, home to INEC headquarters, as tensions rise around the #OccupyINEC movement.
One of the protest leaders, Adeyeye Olugbenga says Nigerian youths are vigilant and will support INEC against attempts by politicians to undermine its work.
“We will continue to come out in our thousands and hundreds to match up in support and in solidarity with INEC.”

Meanwhile, the African democratic congress, ADC has stated that it will go ahead with its congresses, despite INEC’s suspension of the ADC leadership’s recognition until the court case concludes.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated that the party will not be deterred by INEC, noting that whether they come or not, ADC will continue with its congresses and convention.
“We will go ahead with our congresses. We have given INEC 21 days’ notice, they have accepted. Whether they come or not, we will continue with our congresses and our convention.”

Abdullahi claimed INEC has been intimidated, compromised, and influenced to favour the APC, threatening Nigeria’s 2027 election integrity
In a quick reaction, the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Felix Morka said the APC cannot influence INEC’s decision to derecognize David Mark’s executives.

According to him, the all progressives congress did not orchestrate the hijack of ADC by that executive, and should not be dragged into its internal misunderstandings.
