Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is set to return to the ring on July 25 in a preparatory bout ahead of a highly anticipated clash with Tyson Fury.
According to Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh, Joshua will face Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The bout is part of the Esports World Cup event and will be broadcast live on DAZN.
The fight will mark Joshua’s first appearance since his knockout victory over Jake Paul in December.
Following that win, Joshua was involved in a car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two of his close friends.
The former unified heavyweight champion sustained minor injuries.
He has since resumed training and recently signed a two-fight deal under Riyadh Season, which is expected to culminate in a long-awaited showdown with Fury later this year.
Before that blockbuster can materialise, Joshua must first overcome Prenga in July.
