A 41-year-old man, Uchenna Aghoha, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force over the death of his wife, Esther Aghoha, following a domestic dispute in Satellite Town, Lagos State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday after an argument between the couple escalated into a physical confrontation.
Sources familiar with the matter said the deceased had allegedly suffered repeated domestic abuse during the marriage.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the couple’s 14-year-old daughter raised the alarm after her mother collapsed during the altercation.
Neighbours reportedly rushed to the apartment and found Esther unresponsive.
Police sources said the teenager later reported the case at the station, prompting officers to visit the scene.
The victim was taken to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital Ojo, where medical personnel confirmed her dead on arrival.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday.
She said the suspect remains in custody, while the body has been deposited at the General Hospital Yaba morgue for autopsy.
The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for further investigation.
