The Oyo State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs. Ajolayo Sinmiat Akande has congratulated Nigerian workers, particularly those in Oyo State, on the occasion of the 2026 International Workers’ Day, commending their harmonious relationship with the state government.

In a May Day message personally signed and released to the press in Ibadan on Friday, Mrs. Akande praised Oyo State workers for maintaining industrial peace and fostering a productive partnership with the administration of Governor Engineer Oluseyi Makinde. She noted that this cordial relationship has significantly contributed to the state’s growing productivity and resourcefulness.

The director observed that the mutual understanding between workers and the government is reflected in the state’s robust and sustainable Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), which continues to keep the economy stable and buoyant.

She further applauded labour unions in the state for demonstrating restraint and responsibility by avoiding incessant industrial actions despite prevailing national challenges. According to her, this maturity aligns with the labour movement’s core principle of “Laboura Dignitatem”, the dignity of labour.

Mrs. Akande, however, urged workers not to relent in their efforts but to remain committed to the enduring values of diligence, dedication, integrity, professionalism, and strong work ethics, which she described as critical to national development.

Reiterating the agency’s slogan, “Do the Right Thing: The Change Begins with Me,” she encouraged workers to consistently act responsibly and uphold standards that promote the collective well-being of the state and the nation. She also cautioned against corruption, misuse of public resources, and other unethical practices capable of undermining Oyo State’s reputation as the Pacesetter State.

The NOA Director commended Governor Oluseyi Makinde for creating an enabling environment that supports workers’ productivity and motivation, noting that such leadership continues to inspire improved service delivery.

She equally appreciated the cooperation extended to the NOA by ministries, departments, agencies, and local government authorities across the state, describing the collaboration as instrumental to the successful execution of the agency’s mandate.

“I wish all workers a happy International Workers’ Day,” she concluded.
