No fewer than 20 people have been killed following an attack by suspected bandits on Fesken Rafi community in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The deadly assault, which has thrown the community into mourning, drew a swift reaction from the state government, which described the incident as tragic and expressed sympathy with the families of the victims and residents affected by the violence.
Leading a state government delegation to the community on Saturday, Deputy Governor Umar Tafida conveyed the administration’s condolences and assured residents that efforts were being intensified to curb insecurity across the state.
According to him, the government remains resolute in its commitment to protecting lives and property and would continue to work with security agencies to address emerging threats.
“We share in your grief and remain committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property across Kebbi State,” Tafida said during the condolence visit.
The deputy governor also announced plans to reinforce security presence in the area, revealing that additional personnel and operational resources would be deployed to strengthen ongoing efforts, restore calm and prevent a recurrence of such attacks.
