The Ogun State Police Command has arrested six suspects and recovered firearms, ammunition, generators, and mobile phones during a series of intelligence-led operations conducted across Abeokuta, Wasimi, and Ibafo.

The command disclosed the development in a statement issued on Wednesday, noting that coordinated operations by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, and the Ibafo Division led to the disruption of criminal networks involved in illegal possession of firearms, theft, conspiracy, armed intimidation, and receiving stolen property.

According to the statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the suspects arrested include Afisu Awesu, Bala Aminu, Moruf Sodiq, popularly known as “Okiki”, Mumuni Amodu, also known as “Stone”, Abayomi John, alias “Ibafo”, and Adeboye Ojesina.

The police revealed that exhibits recovered during the operations include one pump-action rifle, one locally fabricated pistol, two live cartridges, one expended cartridge, five generators, and nine Android mobile phones suspected to have been stolen.

Investigators said the recoveries were made following targeted operations based on credible intelligence gathered by security operatives.

In one of the major operations, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit arrested Moruf Sodiq, also known as “Okiki”, on May 30, 2026, over his alleged involvement in a generator theft syndicate operating within Abeokuta and surrounding communities.

Police authorities stated that the suspect was tracked and apprehended following actionable intelligence.

Further investigations reportedly led operatives to Mumuni Amodu, alias “Stone”, who was identified as a suspected receiver of stolen property.

A subsequent search of the premises resulted in the recovery of four Elepaq generators, one Sumec Fireman generator, and nine Android mobile phones believed to have been recently stolen.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers involved in the successful operations, praising the swift response, professionalism, and operational efficiency demonstrated by the VCRU, SWAT Unit, and Ibafo Division.

Ojajuni reiterated the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and sustained efforts to combat criminal activities across the state.

He assured residents of continued proactive policing and rapid responses to security threats, stressing that criminal elements would not be allowed to operate freely within Ogun State.

The police urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information that could assist ongoing efforts to maintain law and order across the state.
