The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed a viral report that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Akwukwu Igbo, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State was suspended due to a faulty machine.
the Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Nseabasi Udom, INEC described the publication as false, misleading, and not originating from the commission.
INEC explained that the registration exercise is ongoing in line with its approved rotation schedule noting that the CVR was deployed to Ibusa earlier yesterday where the exercise successfully took place.
It further explained that the registration centre at Akwukwu Igbo would resume operations from July 6 to July 10, as part of the structured local government area.
The commission urged residents of Akwukwu Igbo and surrounding communities to disregard the viral message and rely only on official INEC communication channels for accurate updates.
Eligible voters were advised to proceed with their registration and update exercises as scheduled, without fear of cancellation or disruption.
