The pupils and teachers abducted in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom after days in captivity.
The development was confirmed on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on his verified X account.
“Finally, the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been freed by their abductors,” Onanuga wrote.
The victims were kidnapped in the latest attack on a school community, sparking widespread concern and renewed calls for stronger security measures to protect educational institutions.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to provide details on the circumstances surrounding the victims’ release, including whether a ransom was paid or how their freedom was secured.
