Head Coach Justine Madugu has unveiled a 25-player Super Falcons squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with captain Rasheedat Ajibade, star goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Osinachi Ohale, midfielder Jennifer Echegini and veteran striker Asisat Oshoala leading Nigeria’s quest for a record-extending 11th continental title.
The tournament will be held in Morocco from July 26 to August 16, 2026, with the defending champions drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and tournament debutants Malawi. All of Nigeria’s group matches will be played in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.
Madugu’s squad also includes home-based goalkeeper Fatima Oloko, defenders Michelle Alozie, Oluwatosin Demehin and Christy Ucheibe, midfielders Halimatu Ayinde and Toni Payne, as well as forwards Esther Okoronkwo, Francisca Ordega, Chinwendu Ihezuo and Omorinsola Babajide.
The 2026 edition will feature 16 teams for the first time in the competition’s history. The four semi-finalists will qualify automatically for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, while the fifth-placed team will advance to an intercontinental play-off tournament.
Nigeria enter the championship as defending champions after defeating hosts Morocco 3-2 in last year’s final to claim a 10th WAFCON title.
The Super Falcons have appeared at every FIFA Women’s World Cup since the inaugural tournament in 1991 and will be aiming to maintain their dominance of African women’s football with another successful campaign in Morocco.
