The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, on Tuesday visited the 44 rescued pupils and teachers abducted from Yawota and Esinle communities in Oyo State, reassuring them of the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening security across the country.
Dare visited the victims at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, where they are receiving medical treatment following their rescue from captivity. He was received by the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Olawale Olakulehin, who led him round the wards to meet the patients.
During the visit, the presidential spokesman sympathised with the pupils, teachers and their families over the traumatic experience they endured, describing the abduction as a painful incident. He wished the victims a speedy recovery and commended the security agencies for the successful operation that secured their freedom.
Dare reiterated that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians, stressing that every citizen deserves to live, work and pursue education in a safe environment.
As part of his visit, he also provided personal financial support to each of the 44 rescued pupils and teachers receiving treatment, encouraging them to remain hopeful and focused on their recovery.
He further assured the victims that the Federal Government would continue to strengthen the country’s security architecture and implement measures to prevent similar incidents in schools and communities.
The visit followed the successful rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers after 56 days in captivity, an operation that has drawn widespread commendation and renewed calls for sustained efforts to improve security across the country.
