Former vice president and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has criticised former president Olusegun Obasanjo over fresh allegations against him, describing them as an attempt to rewrite history and gain political advantage ahead of the 2027 elections.
Obasanjo had accused Atiku of betraying his trust ahead of the 2003 elections when they worked together as president and vice president.
however, in a statement issued by senior special assistant on public communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku rejected claims that he bribed the late former speaker of the house of representatives, Ghali Umar Na’abba, to initiate impeachment proceedings against Obasanjo, calling the accusation both reckless and unfair to the deceased.
Atiku further argued that the allegations lack any judicial backing or official confirmation.
The former vice president also questioned the timing of the claims, suggesting a political motive as the 2027 general election approaches.
