Former Bayelsa State Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Henry Seriake Dickson, is set to receive the prestigious Pillar of Nigerian Democracy Award at the Diplomatic Digest 6th Anniversary Lecture, Award and Dinner.
The event is scheduled to hold on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
According to the organisers, the award recognises Senator Dickson’s enduring commitment to democratic governance, constitutionalism, the rule of law and his contributions to the growth and consolidation of democracy in Nigeria.
The organisers noted that throughout his years in public service, the former governor has distinguished himself as a principled statesman, advocate of justice and promoter of good governance.
The anniversary event is expected to attract prominent personalities from government, the diplomatic community, academia, the media, civil society and the private sector to celebrate individuals whose leadership and public service have made significant contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development.
The organisers said the honour further reinforces Senator Dickson’s reputation as one of the country’s leading defenders of democratic values.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, is expected to serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the event.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by Owolola Adebola, Editor of Diplomatic Digest and Chairman of the Planning Committee for the publication’s 6th Anniversary Lecture, Dinner and Awards.
