The House of Representatives has intensified its investigation into the alleged creation of the Presidential Fiscal and Infrastructure Policy Commission (PFIPC), uncovering what lawmakers described as a network of forged government documents used to secure official recognition for the agency despite having no legal backing.

The ongoing probe focuses on allegations that Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi, who presented himself as the Director-General of the PFIPC, obtained official recognition for the purported agency using fake appointment letters, fabricated legislative documents and other forged government records.

Lawmakers are also investigating how several federal institutions processed and acted on the documents, leading to the agency receiving official approvals despite its lack of legal status.

The House Ad-Hoc Committee, which is also probing the alleged establishment of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council without legal backing, said it had uncovered what it described as a web of fictitious government offices, forged appointment letters and fabricated legislative records allegedly used by the promoters of the scheme.

During the investigation, the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation identified one of its staff members, Bello Abdullahi, as the official responsible for diverting correspondence meant for the Permanent Secretary, State House.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, also acknowledged that her office acted on documents that have now been identified as fraudulent before approving an authorised establishment and recruitment waiver for the purported agency.

The revelations emerged during proceedings of the House Ad-Hoc Committee chaired by Yusuf Gagdi, who represents the Kanke/Kanam/Pankshin Federal Constituency of Plateau State.

The committee is seeking to determine how the alleged agency secured official recognition and whether public officials or institutions failed to properly verify the authenticity of the documents before granting approvals.
