The fifth edition of the Prof. Akin Oyebode Cup officially gets underway today, Wednesday, August 5, 2026, with the Ikole Township Stadium set to host the opening fixtures of the grassroots football tournament in Ekiti State.
The opening day will feature four exciting group-stage matches as teams begin their quest for honours in this year’s competition.
The Match Day 1 fixtures are:
9:00 AM – Group A: Ekiti West vs Emure
11:00 AM – Group A: Ekiti East vs Ijero
1:00 PM – Group B: Moba vs Oye LFC
3:00 PM – Group B: Irepodun/Ifelodun (Defending Champions) vs Ido Osi
Sponsored by the Ekiti State Commissioner for Finance, Akintunde Oyebode, the tournament has continued to provide a platform for discovering and nurturing emerging football talents across the state.
The organising committee said preparations have been completed to ensure a smooth and successful tournament, with special support measures, including transport subsidies for participating teams, introduced to ease logistics and encourage wider participation.
