Vinícius Júnior has signed a new six-year contract with Real Madrid CF, extending his stay at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 2032.
The 26-year-old Brazilian winger had entered the final year of his previous contract and had recently been linked with a move to Arsenal F.C.. However, Real Madrid confirmed on Thursday that both parties had reached an agreement to prolong his career with the Spanish giants.
Celebrating the new deal, Vinicius wrote on Instagram: “Eight years at the Bernabeu are too short… Six more years, and then forever.”
In a statement, Real Madrid described the Brazilian as one of the club’s most influential players during one of the most successful periods in its history.
Negotiations over the extension had reportedly continued for the past 18 months, with discussions initially reaching a standstill before the club presented an improved offer that paved the way for an agreement.
Vinicius joined Real Madrid from Brazilian club Clube de Regatas do Flamengo in 2018 and signed his previous contract extension in 2023.
He returned to Madrid earlier this week for pre-season training and medical assessments following his participation with Brazil at the FIFA World Cup.
Since arriving at the Bernabéu, Vinicius has established himself as one of the club’s key attacking players, scoring 128 goals in 375 appearances across all competitions. He has also netted 13 goals in 54 international appearances for Brazil.
During his time with Real Madrid, the winger has helped the club win two UEFA Champions League titles, three La Liga crowns and one Copa del Rey, cementing his place among the club’s modern-day stars.
