President Bola Tinubu has directed the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services and other relevant security and intelligence agencies to intensify efforts to immediately rescue victims of the Niger mosque abduction.
The directive was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed outrage over the abduction and killing of innocent citizens by criminal elements in Niger State.
The President condemned the incident and called on security agencies to deploy all necessary resources and intelligence capabilities towards securing the safe release of those abducted.
Tinubu also directed the Service Chiefs to provide him with regular updates on the progress of the rescue operation.
The President said the briefings should continue until all the abducted victims have been accounted for.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s determination to confront criminal elements and protect citizens and communities across the country.
He stressed that terror would not cow Nigeria, emphasising the need for the government and security agencies to defend the people, protect vulnerable communities and uphold the sanctity of human life.
The President’s directive comes amid heightened concern over the security situation and the need for swift action to rescue the victims and bring those responsible to justice.
