The Chairman of Cavista Holdings and Agbeyewa Farms, Mr Niyi John Olajide, says the company is building more than a conventional cassava farm, with plans to establish a modern agricultural hub driven by large-scale production, mechanisation, efficiency and sustainability.
Olajide stated this during an inspection visit to Agbeyewa Farms in Ipao-Ekiti, where he reviewed ongoing farm operations and inspected newly acquired tractors and other agricultural equipment.
He said the investments in machinery and infrastructure were aimed at increasing productivity, expanding the farm’s cultivation capacity and positioning Agbeyewa Farms as a modern agricultural enterprise.
“What we are building here is bigger than just farming cassava. We are building an agricultural business that must be productive, efficient and sustainable,” Olajide said.
The chairman urged the management and workforce to ensure the effective use and proper maintenance of the newly acquired equipment, stressing that the investments must translate into measurable improvements in farm productivity.
According to him, the new machinery would allow the company to carry out farming operations more efficiently while increasing the number of hectares that can be cultivated.
“These tractors are not just equipment. They are investments in our ability to do things faster and cover more hectares. We need to make sure they are properly utilised and maintained,” he said.
During the inspection, Olajide toured the farm’s field operations and examined brand-new 110-horsepower tractors recently acquired from Zoomline.
He described the acquisition as a significant step in Agbeyewa Farms’ continued investment in mechanised agriculture.
Olajide also encouraged members of staff to remain committed and disciplined as the company works towards achieving its agricultural objectives.
“Agriculture is not easy, but if we remain committed, disciplined and focused on the work, we will achieve what we have set out to achieve,” he said.
The chairman was received by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Agbeyewa Farms, Mr Seyi Oska Aiyeleso, alongside the Director of Community Engagement, Alhaji Dauda Lawal; Senior Manager, People, Mr Vincent Olajide; and other members of the management team.
The company’s latest investments underscore its push towards mechanised and large-scale agriculture, with a focus on improving efficiency and building a sustainable agricultural value chain in Ekiti State.
