Prophet Sam Olu Alo has urged Nigerians to reject money politics and elect leaders based on competence rather than political party, ethnicity or personal affiliation.
The founder of Christ Apostolic Church, Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain, described vote selling as a betrayal of citizens’ future and constitutional right.
Speaking at the grand finale of the annual meeting tagged “Sure Mercy of David,” the cleric urged Nigerians to look beyond immediate financial inducements when choosing political leaders.
He also called on citizens to hold state and local governments accountable for the development of their communities.
According to him, increased allocations to states should translate into visible improvements in infrastructure and other areas of development at both state and local government levels.
Olu Alo identified what he described as the politics of hatred and corruption as major obstacles to Nigeria’s progress.
He also criticised the culture of cutting corners, saying the pursuit of dishonest shortcuts contributes to the hardship and poverty experienced by many Nigerians.
The cleric called for a return to sincerity and integrity, describing these values as necessary for the country’s restoration.
He urged Nigerians to demand accountability from their leaders while also examining their own responsibility in building a more honest and functional society.
