President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed delight over the rescue of 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and six other Nigerians who were abducted by criminal elements in Kogi State last week.
The President said all 21 abductees were rescued during a coordinated Search and Rescue operation involving personnel of the military, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS) and local vigilantes.
According to a statement by the President, the victims, comprising eight males and 13 females, were rescued from kidnappers’ hideouts in forests within Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Tinubu said the rescued corps members and other victims were receiving medical attention before being reunited with their families.
The President noted that security operatives were still pursuing the fleeing kidnappers, in line with his directive to sustain pressure on criminal elements across the country.
He vowed that those responsible for the abduction, as well as anyone found to have aided the crime, would face the full weight of the law.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving security and ensuring that Nigerians can travel across the country without fear.
The President commended the combined Search and Rescue team for their courage and efforts, while also appreciating the families and loved ones of the abductees for their patience during the ordeal.
He further assured parents and families of NYSC members and other Nigerians that his administration remained committed to protecting lives and property across the country.
