The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, will commence its 2027 Budget Consultative Forum on Monday, September 7, 2026, with the Ikeja Division hosting the opening session.
The annual five-day consultation will be held across the five divisions of the state as part of the government’s commitment to inclusive governance and shared prosperity.
The forum is designed to provide residents and stakeholders with an opportunity to present their views, needs and aspirations and contribute to the state’s development priorities and fiscal planning for the 2027 financial year.
The Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ope George, will lead management and officials of the ministry during the consultations across the five divisions, collectively known as IBILE — Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Epe.
The opening session for the Ikeja Division will take place at the Multipurpose Hall, Radio Lagos, Agidingbi, from 10:00 a.m.
Participants are expected to include government officials, traditional rulers, Community Development Committees and Associations, professional and religious bodies, civil society and non-governmental organisations, trade associations, youth and women groups, private-sector stakeholders, People Living With Disabilities (PLWD), and members of the public.
The consultations will provide stakeholders with a platform to identify priority areas, highlight community needs and make recommendations that could shape policies, programmes and projects captured in the 2027 budget.
The state government said the engagement is aimed at deepening citizen participation in the budgetary process and ensuring that residents’ concerns and aspirations continue to inform development planning and resource allocation.
Members of the public who wish to participate virtually are required to indicate their interest and division by sending an email to budget@lagosstate.gov.ng.
