The National Sports Commission has confirmed that each player of Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has received the naira equivalent of $100,000 as part of the Presidential Reward for their victory at the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket.
Each team official was also paid the naira equivalent of $50,000, with the payments credited to the beneficiaries’ accounts on September 9, 2026.
The NSC said all players and officials had confirmed receipt of the funds.
In a statement signed by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Kehinde Ajayi, the commission said the payments completed all the cash components of the reward announced by President Bola Tinubu.
The broader reward package also included three-bedroom flats in Abuja and national honours of the Order of the Niger, OON, for members of the team.
D’Tigress secured a record fifth consecutive Afrobasket title and seventh overall in 2025, further cementing their dominance of women’s basketball in Africa.
