The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Zone 11 has called for stronger collaboration among security agencies, Special Marshals and members of the public to improve road safety and reduce traffic crashes across the country.
The call was made at the 2026 Special Marshals Zonal Conference held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Tuesday.
The conference brought together members of the FRSC from the three states under Zone 11 to deliberate on strategies for improving road safety and tackling the persistent challenge of road traffic crashes.
Speaking at the event, the Zonal Commanding Officer, Edward Odiete, stressed the need for greater cooperation between Special Marshals, other security agencies and the public.
Odiete described the Special Marshals as an important component of the FRSC, commending them for their voluntary contribution to road safety efforts.
The conference also featured the induction of new members into the Special Marshals, with the National Coordinator of Special Marshals, Usman Adaji, urging them to uphold integrity and dedication in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Representatives of other security agencies and religious organisations also expressed their support for initiatives aimed at improving road safety.
The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who was represented by the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority, OYRTMA, Adekoya Adesagba, also affirmed the state government’s support for the road safety campaign.
The conference, themed, “Repositioning Special Marshals for Greater Impact Through Strategic Partnership and Data-Driven Road Safety Interaction,” focused on strengthening the role of Special Marshals in road safety through improved inter-agency collaboration and the effective use of road safety data.
