Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria, Dr Florence Ajimobi, has formally assumed her diplomatic duties after presenting her Letters of Credence to Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen.
The presentation marks the commencement of Ajimobi’s tenure as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Austria.
Speaking after the presentation, Ajimobi, wife of former Oyo state governor, late Abiola Ajimobi, expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for appointing her, promising to serve Nigeria with dedication and uphold the country’s interests during her assignment.
“I accept this responsibility with humility, a strong sense of duty, and an unwavering commitment to representing Nigeria with dignity and purpose,” she said.
The ambassador described relations between Nigeria and Austria as longstanding, noting that both countries have opportunities to expand cooperation in areas including trade and investment, innovation, sustainable development and people-to-people relations.
Ajimobi said she would work to identify new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation while strengthening existing ties between Nigeria and Austria.
“As I begin this new chapter of service, I look forward to working to open new frontiers of mutually beneficial cooperation and to further strengthen the bonds of friendship between our two countries,” she stated.

She also pledged to prioritise the interests and welfare of Nigerians throughout her diplomatic assignment.
“I remain committed to giving this assignment my very best and to serving the interests of Nigeria and Nigerians with dedication and honour,” Ajimobi added.
