The Ekiti State Office of Transformation and Service Delivery, OTSD, has inspected the ongoing construction of the Ido-Ekiti township road network, describing the project as an important intervention in improving infrastructure in the ancient town.
According to a post on its Facebook page, the project was facilitated by the Senator representing Ekiti North, Cyril Fasuyi, and covers about 3.4 kilometres of roads, including sections linking Inisa to Ijemu, Sabo through Idofin to Oja-Odo, and Odo Agbe to Iloro.
The inspection was led by the Special Adviser and Director-General of OTSD, Engineer John Moyo Ekundayo, who was accompanied by officials of the office. The team assessed the progress of work and received a technical briefing from the project engineer, Engineer Omoniyi Ogunmorele of Biotimate Resources Limited.
The OTSD said excavation had been completed on about one kilometre of the 3.4-kilometre road, while work was ongoing on the construction of lined drains.
Engr Ekundayo commended the quality of work so far but advised the contractor to use approved laterite, compact the road in layers and extend drainage on both sides of the curved section of Inisa Road to improve the management of stormwater.
He also called for proper desiltation of the culvert, adherence to specified concrete thickness and mix proportions, and the erection of a project signpost showing details of the project, contractor and scope of work.
The inspection reflects ongoing efforts to monitor the road project and ensure that the infrastructure intervention facilitated by Senator Cyril Fasuyi meets required standards and contributes to improved connectivity and development in Ido-Ekiti.
