The All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council for Somolu Federal Constituency led by Hon. Rotimi Olowo has pledged to run an inclusive campaign, free from discrimination and violence, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party also said it remains united and will win all the seats it is contesting in the polls.
Hon Olowo and Vice Director General, APC Lagos East Senatorial Campaign Council, Chief Bode Oyedele, made the pledge on Tuesday at the inauguration of the council’s directors, deputy directors and secretaries of directorates as well as Christian/Muslim Prayer session.
“Our campaign will be open to everyone. There will be no discrimination and no violence in anything we do in Somolu,” Oyedele said.
In his remarks, Hon Olowo shortly after administering the oath of office for the directors, charged the appointees to remain committed and diligent in the discharge of their responsibilities. “You have been given a duty, and the party expects you to carry it out with diligence and commitment,” he told them.
Olowo also urged party members to remain united as the elections draw near.
“Let us settle our differences within the family and go into these elections as one party with one purpose,” he said.
Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos State and APC Co-ordinator for Transportation for the campaign council, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Executive Chairman of Somolu, Hon. Lateef Ashimi and his Counterpart from Bariga, Hon. Adedeji Omope also made similar calls.
The newly inaugurated campaign council directors include Hon. Olufemi Samuel Apata, Director of Mobilisation, with Hon. Rasak Tajudeen as deputy; Hon. Gbenga Abdullahi, Director of Planning and Strategy; and Hon. Ifejowo Adeyemi, Director of Special Duties and Administration.

Also inaugurated were Dr Mike Dike, Director of Non-Indigene Affairs, and Hon. Fatai Komolafe, Director of Party Affairs.
Earlier, the Deputy Director General of the Campaign Council, Hakeem Oriola, dismissed speculation of disunity and rancour within the constituency.
He said the party’s candidates would draw on the policies and influence of the Tinubu administration to drive development across sectors.
“Our candidates will leverage the policies and reach of the Tinubu administration to bring development to every sector,” he said.
The House of Representatives candidate, Kolade Alabi, said his record and grassroots engagements as former Chairman of Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) qualified him to represent Somolu at the National Assembly.
“My achievements and my closeness to the grassroots as Chairman of Bariga LCDA speak for me,” Alabi said. He pledged to replicate the impact of those engagements at the National Assembly if elected.
He urged party supporters and residents to remain proactive as the elections approach, and said the party must avoid a repeat of what happened in the constituency in 2023.
“We cannot afford a repeat of 2023 in Somolu. Everyone must be alert and get involved from now,” he said.
The APC candidate seeking re-election to the Lagos State House of Assembly for Somolu Constituency, Abiodun Orekoya, pledged to sustain his efforts towards good governance if returned.
“I will keep working to deliver good governance to the people of Somolu if they give me another mandate,” Orekoya said.
The Director of Media and Communications, Kelechi Obi, and his deputy, Oluwarotimi Oluyede, said the APC had done enough through its candidates to campaign on with ease.
They cited Senator Tokunbo Abiru, who is seeking re-election to represent Lagos East as one who has impacted constituents through various projects.
Other APC leaders attended the event which featured inter-religious prayer sessions led by clerics for the success of the party.
