The governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, in Rivers State, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, has met with former President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the February 2027 governorship election.
The meeting reportedly took place at Jonathan’s residence in Bayelsa State. However, details of their discussions have not been made public.
The visit comes amid political consultations and efforts by candidates to strengthen their support base ahead of the election.
Lulu-Briggs will be contesting for the state’s top political office alongside the African Democratic Congress, ADC, candidate, Gabriel Pidomson, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Kingsley Chinda.
The meeting also comes against the backdrop of recent comments by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who had dismissed Lulu-Briggs’ chances in the governorship race.
Wike had described Chinda as the candidate capable of winning the election, citing the support of the Rainbow Coalition.
